Weird Al plots bigger, weirder, and possibly louder takeover of Redding

Redding is about to get a dose of accordion-fueled absurdity when _Weird Al_ Yankovic rolls into the Civic Auditorium Lawn on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, for his Bigger & Weirder 2025 Tour, just days before his San Diego performance on August 29.

It’s an outdoor event, which means blankets, lawn chairs, and a chance to watch the world’s most successful comedy musician under the stars—possibly alongside folks who wandered in thinking it was an open-air production of Macbeth.

Enter the seven-foot sad clown
The five-time Grammy winner is promising a full-scale multimedia comedy rock spectacle, with his long-time band joined by four extra musicians. Expect iconic parodies like Amish Paradise, Eat It, and White & Nerdy, along with deep cuts that have never seen a live stage. If you’ve ever wanted to watch a man in an outrageous costume sing about medical procedures or punctuation, this is your moment.

Sharing the bill is Puddles Pity Party, a towering, melancholic clown whose voice has been described as "operatic" and "life-affirming" in the same breath. With more than 900K YouTube subscribers, Puddles has wowed audiences worldwide, proving that sadness can, in fact, sell out a theater.

His past collaborators include Jack Black, Eric Idle, and other legends who clearly have no issue performing alongside a man in ruffled collars.

Puddles Pity Party, the clown persona inspired by Pagliacci, is the stage name of American singer and performer Michael Geier from Atlanta, Georgia. Geier primarily portrays Puddles in his shows and often talks about the character in the third person.

In the music video for "Smells Like Nirvana," what famous actor (who would later go on to become a talk show host) makes a cameo appearance as the guy who says "I can't hear you, the music is too loud"?
For the fans who want more than music
Tickets are currently 55% off for the August 26 Redding concert, though VIP Lawn access comes with prime seating, dedicated bars, free parking, and the smug glow of avoiding public restrooms. Hardcore fans can spring for an Artist VIP package—sold separately—which includes a meet-and-greet with Al, a signed poster, and an exclusive blanket, handy for both comfort and potential ironic cosplay.

Rain or shine, Redding will get Weird—and possibly discover it enjoys being this weird.
