Reggaetón Takes the Field: How the Genre Ruled Super Bowl LX

On February 8, 2026, Levi’s Stadium traded the gridiron for the marquesina. The Apple Music Halftime Show, headlined by Bad Bunny, wasn't just a concert; it was a global victory lap for Reggaetón. According to Nielsen, the performance drew a massive average of 128.2 million viewers, with pulses (and ratings) spiking even higher than the peak action between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.

From the second the 808s of "Tití Me Preguntó" kicked in, it was clear that the "Big Game" had officially moved to La Isla’s rhythm. Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, who speaks mostly Spanish, turned the world's biggest stage into a big Caribbean block party. He had 380 performers and a set design that felt more like a night out in San Juan than a stadium in Santa Clara.

The Setlist: A Masterclass in Perreo and fusion

The show was a high-energy retrospective of how Reggaetón has evolved from underground "marquesina" parties to a dominant force in global pop. Bad Bunny didn't just stick to the script; he brought the genre's collaborative spirit to life:

The "Salsafied" Twist:

In a surprising genre-bend, Lady Gaga joined the stage for a salsa-infused version of "Die With a Smile," proving that the "Reggaetón aesthetic" can absorb and elevate any sound.

The Bridge of Eras:

The appearance of Ricky Martin for "Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawaii" was a passing of the torch, connecting the early 2000s "Latin Explosion" to the current global dominance of the "Urbano" sound.  Actor Pedro Pascal made a brief appearance, embracing the star power and charisma that has become the genre's modern era. Love."

The Beat of a Generation 🌴🥁

Reggaetón is a high-energy fusion of Jamaican dancehallhip-hop, and Latin rhythms (like salsa and bomba), built on the iconic, hypnotic "dem bow" drum pattern. Born in the streets of Panama and Puerto Rico, it evolved from an underground movement into a global pop powerhouse. Legends like Daddy YankeeDon Omar, and Ivy Queen paved the way for modern icons like Bad BunnyKarol GJ BalvinNicky Jam, and Rauw Alejandro.

"Music is universal. You can connect heart to heart just with a song without any lyrics. That’s the only thing I want people to know, and feel after my show."

My name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, and if I'm here today at Super Bowl 60, it's because I never, ever stopped believing in myself... You're worth more than you think.
