Zolita's Queen of Hearts: a celebration of love and struggle

Emerging singer-songwriter Zolita, or Zoë Montana Hoetzel, has released her highly anticipated album, Queen of Hearts, on May 31st, via AWAL Records.  This new body of work offers a fresh perspective, combining themes of love and struggle, with an emphasis on queer celebration and introspection.

Zolita's vulnerability shines through in the album, revealing depths not explored in previous releases.  The album's genre-blending style includes elements of pop-punk and tongue-in-cheek country, as heard on "Small Town Scandal."

The first three tracks taps into queer celebration. When asked about it, Zolita said she wanted to write songs that could be played in a gay club. Moreover, she was in a stable relationship at the time, so she could explore themes outside of love and relationships.  The slight shift in theme allowed her to express herself in fresh and exciting ways.

Definitely! 100%. I grew up a horse girl, I was in the pony club in high-school. I was a big horse girl, and one day I hope to have horses again!

Zolita taps into her creative

As a multitalented artist, Zolita's background in filmmaking greatly influences her creative process. Each melody originates a complex narrative within her, brimming with uncooked feelings and theatrics in her thoughts. A buzz has been created around the upcoming release of the "Bloodstream" music video, which boasts origins as a comprehensive twelve-page short film script. Fans can look forward to a series of extended scenes from the video throughout the month. She has one more single coming next week; it's called "Grown Up".

A very talented family

Zolita, who was born on September 23, 1994, in New York, was raised in Calabasas, California by her parents Heidi Schwarck and Holger Hoetzel. Her father, who is of German ancestry, motivated her to pursue music, and she grew up playing bluegrass and flat pick guitar. Zolita has a brother, Max Montana, who plays basketball, and a sister, Luna, who is a YouTuber and ballerina. Interestingly, all three siblings share the middle name Montana.
