When singer-songwriter Mattie Leon married in 2020, many of the guests were friends from his Penn State University days. Seeing them together pulled him back to student housing, practice ranges, and nights that had quietly shaped who he was.
Those flashbacks soon moved from memory to melody. Leon began sketching songs about that time, and the idea grew into a Penn State-inspired album including the single Stadium Lights and an unreleased track titled Heaven is a Dive Bar.

Leon grew up in Brampton, Canada, where junior golf tournaments once mattered more than open mic nights. A scholarship offer from Penn State gave him the chance to chase both competition and a degree in the United States.
On campus, the certainty he had on the golf course vanished in the classroom.
