Nodega set to release debut album ‘Rot in Helvetica’ on July 18 via Chrysalis Records
New York-based thrash punk band Nodega will release their debut album Rot in Helvetica on July 18 through Chrysalis Records. The five-piece group mixes the grit of early hardcore with the energy of skate punk and thrash, adding just enough melody to keep things interesting. The record taps into teenage frustration and chaotic joy, fast, loud, and a little reckless.
The single ‘quantify’ sets the tone
Their first single, "Quantify," takes aim at the way everything is measured and ranked. The lyrics take direct shots at how modern life is shaped by numbers, ratings, and tech-driven thinking. It’s not subtle, and that’s the point. With lines like "Obey your Wall Street and Silicon Valley masters," the band invites listeners to push back against the pressure to turn every moment into data.

Not your usual punk revival
Rather than chase trends or mimic older punk sounds, Nodega goes its own way. The first track on the album openly challenges stale punk tropes and fake rebellion. The band stays rooted in punk’s raw attitude but doesn’t dress it up with nostalgia. Every song sounds urgent, like it needs to be played now or not at all.

Live shows bring the energy to the stage
To celebrate the release, Nodega will play two free shows in New York: July 16 at Alphaville and July 18 at Rough Trade. They’ll also head to London for a show at Shacklewell Arms on August 2. These gigs will give fans a chance to see the band’s full force in person, no tickets, no filler, just pure noise and movement.
We’d record the guitars in the studio, exploring styles and sounds from that music, and then I’d take it all home to my computer and bring it into my other world.
A debut that refuses to hold back
Rot in Helvetica runs just under 22 minutes, but the impact lands hard. It’s the kind of debut that doesn’t ask for permission. The songs come fast, the message is clear, and the band isn’t trying to fit in. For listeners who miss punk with bite and a pulse, this record hits where it matters.
