The Clipse, also referred to as Clipse, is a hip hop duo from the United States that was active primarily from 1994 to 2010. The group is made up of siblings Gene "Malice" and Terrence "Pusha T" Thornton. In the early days, Pusha T went by Terrar while No Malice was known as Malicious. However, after the group formed, Malice changed his stage name to Malice and then later to No Malice in 2012 after becoming a Christian. The duo, who hails from Virginia Beach, was discovered by fellow Virginia Beach native and producer, Pharrell Williams, who encouraged them to work together. Williams was the executive and lead producer for all of their albums and often made appearances as a guest performer with his group, the Neptunes. The Clipse played a significant role in establishing Virginia as a major player in East Coast hip hop and often focused on themes related to the illegal drug trade.
