Lauren Mayberry of CHVRCHES announces debut solo album 'Vicious Creature' and 2025 tour dates
Leading up to the album release, she’s already shared a few singles, including _Crocodile Tears_ and _Something in the Air_, released in October, as well as earlier tracks like _Are You Awake?_ and _Shame_. Each song hints at a more personal, experimental sound, letting her take on themes she hasn’t fully explored with CHVRCHES.

CHVRCHES rose to fame with their synth-pop style and introspective lyrics. They quickly became known for hits like The Mother We Share, Leave a Trace, and Clearest Blue, which showcased their knack for blending melodic pop with meaningful, often emotional lyrics.
Their 2021 album, Screen Violence, saw acclaim for its raw take on themes of fear, disconnection, and resilience.
Inspired by musicals like Cabaret and Chicago, the Vicious album explores darker, more complex aspects of femininity. Mayberry describes it as touching on the dark, physical, and subversive side of being a woman.
Mayberry teamed up with notable producers, including Ethan Gruska, and Matthew Koma, bringing together her familiar synth-pop style with bolder, more intimate tones that help shape the album’s unique feel.
