Music fans have another release to look forward to this summer as Lisa Coppola prepares to unveil a new collection of songs. Joining her on the recording are longtime collaborators Christine Ghilino and Carmen Nardone, whose years of performing together helped shape the song's close vocal harmonies.

Written by William Robinson and Warren Moore, "Ooh Baby Baby" became the album's only cover after Coppola decided to record her own version. Previously recorded by artists including Aretha Franklin and Linda Ronstadt, it is the only cover on the upcoming five-song album.

The project also carries personal meaning. Coppola said she rediscovered an old demo of herself and Ghilino singing the song for fun during their time in The Party Dolls. Finding that recording inspired her to create a polished studio version. She later reunited with Nardone in Ladies of the 80s, describing those years as "harmony boot camp" that strengthened both their vocal blend and friendship.

Album embraces human creativity

Produced by three-time Grammy Award winner Lonnie Park, Showing Up As Myself highlights a fully human creative process. Every lyric, melody, vocal performance, instrumental part and production decision was completed without artificial intelligence, reflecting the team's commitment to traditional music-making.

The five-song album explores themes of love, possibility, nostalgia, vulnerability and remaining true to yourself through life's changes. Coppola's expressive vocals remain at the centre of each track. Meanwhile, "Take Me Higher," another song from the album, is already receiving airplay on AAA and Americana radio stations in the U.S. and the U.K.

Building on global success

The New Jersey singer-songwriter blends Americana, Adult Contemporary, rock, blues and country influences.
