Fans can now pre-order and pre-save Midnight Gasoline. Johnson dedicated three weeks to the Cash Cabin Studio, immersing himself in the creative atmosphere and even parking his bus outside. He expressed his long-standing desire to make an album there, noting the unique spirit of the place, which he attributes to Johnny and June, as well as the many artists who have recorded there, making it feel like home to him.

To celebrate the album release, Johnson has unveiled the poignant song "Someday When I’m Old," which prompts listeners to reflect on their mortality, reminiscent of classics like "Whiskey Lullaby." Though the album lacks a specific theme, it showcases different aspects of his life, featuring both lighthearted anecdotes and deeply personal stories, allowing him to share these experiences through his music.

Midnight Gasoline, also referred to as Cash One, follows in the footsteps of Johnson's previous acclaimed albums, That Lonesome Song and The Guitar Song. The first half of the album was produced by The Kent Hardly Playboys, while the second half was handled by the renowned Dave Cobb, who also worked on Johnson's earlier projects. "Dave was brilliant, as usual. I have nothing but deep respect for him," Johnson noted.

The album showcases a commitment to collaboration, featuring co-writers such as Chris Stapleton, Randy Houser, and Jim "Moose" Brown, among others. Several tracks, including "21 Guns," "What a View," "Trudy," and "Sober," have already been released, with a new single, "Someday When I’m Old," set to drop soon.
