Hybe Latin America launches Santos Bravos, in search of the next Latin pop sensation
Hybe Co., Ltd. This isn't your typical "let’s sing around a piano and hug it out" setup. Contestants will be tested on everything from dance skills to emotional control. Cry too much? Elimination. Smile too little? Elimination. Forget the lyrics? You know the drill. It’s part therapy session, part boot camp, and part reality show circus, just without the safety net
The show will track the journeys of 16 emerging Latin stars from countries such as Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Peru, Spain, and the United States, as they demonstrate their skills in hopes of being selected for a brand new Latin music ensemble.
Finding gems in the rough and watching them grow and pursue their dreams with the help of mentors may sound familiar to K-pop fans. Hybe Latin America seeks to fuse the popular formula into the Latin music scene, nurturing local talent for the global music scene.
“Our goal is not just to create a group, but to guide young Latin artists through a real transformation — artistically and personally,” said Bang Si-Hyuk, chairman of HYBE, in a press release. “Santos Bravos is about authenticity, emotion, and connection.”
