Emily Yacina announces Veilfall, her first album in six years, with reflective single “Talk Me Down”
Long Beach-based musician Emily Yacina has announced the release of her upcoming album Veilfall, arriving September 26. The album is her first full-length project since 2019’s Remember The Silver, and follows her 2022 mini-album All The Things. With a career spanning over a decade, Yacina has developed a distinctive voice in the indie music scene—one defined by intimate vocals, poetic lyricism, and a willingness to explore emotional nuance.
"Talk Me Down" introduces a new chapter
Leading the album is the single "Talk Me Down," a softly powerful track that balances warmth with unease. Built on a beat from her longtime friend Trish McGowan, the song grew quickly and naturally. Yacina described it as "a fun song about the fear of vulnerability," a theme that runs throughout the album.
Her delivery shifts between hushed tones and comforting melodies, with the chorus repeated like a calming mantra. The accompanying video reflects this internal push and pull, showing her in isolated outdoor settings and more playful, youth-driven spaces.

Healing through connection and sound
Much of Veilfall was written while Yacina was hosting grief-focused salons at a bookstore in Los Angeles. These intimate gatherings invited people to share their experiences with loss, opening up raw conversations about death, memory, and healing. Those exchanges became central to the album’s emotional core.
Instead of telling linear stories, Yacina leans into abstract reflections—capturing moments of sorrow, clarity, and confusion in lyrical fragments. She collaborated with a wide array of indie artists and producers, including Charlie Brand (Miniature Tigers), Jonnie Baker (Florist), Gia Margaret, Oliver Hill (Coco), and Cameron Wisch (Porches), giving the album its layered, textured sound.

Fall tour with Frankie Cosmos
To bring Veilfall to the stage, Yacina will join indie pop band Frankie Cosmos on a fall tour. The tour covers venues across the West Coast and Pacific Northwest, including stops in Santa Ana, Seattle, and San Francisco. These intimate performances offer a fitting setting for Yacina’s quiet yet emotionally resonant new material.
With Veilfall, Emily Yacina offers a deeply personal journey—one that invites listeners to sit with grief, embrace reflection, and find comfort in shared emotion.
