Counting Crows return with a new album after more than a decade

After 11 years, Counting Crows have finally released a full-length album, _Butter Miracle: The Complete Sweets!_ The record, released on May 9, 2025, includes their 2021 EP _Butter Miracle: Suite One_ and adds five new tracks. While fans are glad to hear something new from the band, much of the material may feel familiar to those who followed the EP closely.

The songs flow into one another like a single story, with "The Tall Grass" and "Elevator Boots" setting the tone. New tracks like "Under the Aurora" and "With Love, From A-Z" stand out, offering some of the more memorable moments on the album.

A slow comeback met with mixed views
The album has received a variety of reactions. Some longtime listeners appreciate the band’s classic melodies and poetic lyrics, which continue to carry a sense of longing and reflection. Others feel the record plays it safe and doesn't move far from their earlier work. For many, it’s a solid but not striking return.

Counting Crows haven't changed much, and that may be both the album’s strength and its weakness.
Touring with The Gaslight Anthem
To support the release, Counting Crows have launched _The Complete Sweets! Tour_ runs from June through November. It includes 40 shows across North America and a final performance in London. The Gaslight Anthem will join as special guests on most U.S. dates.

This tour gives fans a rare chance to hear the full suite performed live, something that may connect better on stage than on record.
Why the delay made sense for some fans
The album took over two years to finish, and that slower pace shows in how the songs connect. Adam Duritz didn’t want to rush things, he wanted the music to flow as one full piece. That idea comes through clearly, with each track blending into the next.
For fans, not for everyone
_Butter Miracle: The Complete Sweets!_ isn’t trying to win over a new crowd. Instead, it’s a gift to fans who have grown with the band since the ‘90s. It won’t surprise you, but it might remind you why you listened in the first place.
