Cleveland Area Rocker Shawn Perry Releases New Album
Shawn Perry, a singer-songwriter from Vermillion, OH, characterizes his first album, All American Heartbreak, as a fusion of all his preferred elements. It incorporates elements of hard rock, country, metal, classic hip-hop, and pop.
"Inspired by the real life romance of a friend who met his wife on Tinder, “Hookin’ Up” serves as the first single. Perry later officiated the wedding, and the line “falling' down drunk eating chicken in a bathtub” was inspired from a line of dialogue from the Kate Walsh TV show Bad Judge.
Recording took place at Spider Studios in Cleveland, Ohio, Rock-N-Roll Dojo in Vermilion, Ohio, and The Castle in Nashville, Tennessee. Ben Schigel mixed the album, except for “Lawnchair,” which was mixed by Christian Davis Stalnecker. The album was mastered by Grammy Winner Maor Appelbaum in Los Angeles, California, with the vinyl remaster done by Welcome to 1979 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Perry is co-owner of Lake Erie Lanes and Lucy’s Bar and Grill in Vermilion, owner of Rock-N-Roll Dojo in Vermilion where he teaches music, and also owner of a guitar company called Valkyrie.
“I hope it brings a smile to your face, and proves that real musicians, playing real instruments, releasing products you can hold in your hand, touch, feel and smell are not dead, but are in fact poised for a comeback."
