Patricia Mae Giraldo, also known professionally as Benatar, was born on January 10, 1953. She is an American singer and songwriter who has achieved great success in the United States and Canada. Her career includes two multi-platinum and five platinum albums in the US, as well as eight consecutive platinum albums in Canada. She has also sold over 36 million albums globally and has won four Grammy Awards. In November 2022, she was honored with induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Benatar's first album, In the Heat of the Night, released in 1979, was her breakthrough in North America, with particular success in Canada where it reached No. 3 on the charts. The album featured two popular singles, "Heartbreaker" and "We Live for Love", the latter of which was written by her lead guitarist and future husband, Neil Giraldo.
