Surprise Comeback: Aerosmith Teases Monumental Hollywood Bowl Return After Retirement
Hollywood Bowl Dates Teased
Aerosmith started the speculation on October 5 with a video featuring Tyler and longtime rock photographer Ross Halfin outside the Hollywood Bowl. Tyler climbs a ladder to change the venue's marquee, eventually revealing "Aerosmith & Friends" alongside October 29 and November 1.
Halfin asks whether the singer misses performing, while Tyler jokes that he misses his mind most. Another exchange sees the photographer question whether Tyler can spell Aerosmith, prompting the frontman to stress that the important part is "and friends." The clip ends with part of Sweet Emotion and promises that everything will be revealed the following day.
Announcement Gets Delayed
Fans expecting answers on October 6 were instead given another teaser. The band shared behind-the-scenes footage from the original video and joked that letting Tyler handle the marquee required a few attempts. "More tomorrow," the band added, pushing the expected reveal to today.
No ticket information or guest lineup had been officially announced at that point. The Hollywood Bowl also had nothing scheduled for either date when Loudwire checked. Interestingly, October 29 and November 1 fall between shows in My Chemical Romance's multi-night run at the venue.
Three-Year Concert Absence
Any full Aerosmith performance would carry extra significance since the band has not played a complete concert since September 2023. Its Peace Out farewell tour ended after only three shows when Tyler suffered vocal-cord damage and fractured his larynx. Plans to resume the tour were eventually abandoned.
Aerosmith announced in August 2024 that it was retiring from touring after concluding that Tyler could not fully recover from the injury. Tyler has nevertheless returned to singing on selected occasions. His later appearances included Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath's Back to the Beginning farewell concert and an Ozzy tribute at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards alongside Joe Perry and Yungblud.
Another Show Was Possible
Signs of a possible Aerosmith comeback appeared before the Hollywood Bowl tease. Perry previously said the members had discussed their future and believed there had to be at least one more Aerosmith gig. Earlier this year, the guitarist added that the group was not in touring mode but still had other options, as Tyler gradually became more comfortable singing again after resting his voice.
Musically, the group remained active, teaming with Yungblud for the five-track One More Time EP in 2025, its first new music in more than a decade. The Hollywood Bowl videos now offer the clearest sign yet of what could come next. Exactly who the "friends" are and what the two dates involve remain the biggest unanswered questions.
