Giovanni grew up around influences of classic rock, pop and jazz. As a kid he was exposed to a variety of musical styles ranging from Grand Funk, Parliament Funkadelic, Jimi Hendrix, Sinatra, Steve Earle and everything in between. "I still remember making my dad buy me the Parliament album with Maggot Brain on it because I was this little kid who had to learn the song with the cool guitar sound and solo."
He started playing the guitar professionally when he was 14 and soon after found himself supporting some great artists. "I've always viewed the experience to perform with many different artists as an opportunity to learn how to be proficient at different styles on the guitar. Early on I looked up to guitar players like Steve Lukather, who have the ability to play well in various situations and on tons of recordings – from commercial rock and pop to fusion."
